After having studying the 204 caliber for a little while i decided to let myself loose on a new rifle.
I had been looking at 3 models in particular which were:
- Savage model 25 lightweight varminter
- Remington 700 vssf II
- Tikka T3 Stainless varmint

Read some reviews on all those rifles, even with the big price difference between the savage and the 2 others i opted to pay for the tikka. It was one hell of a fine rifle! The action i so smooth i couldn't pass on it. Although the vssf II had the nice HS Precision stock and a 26inch barrel. The action wasn't as smooth and already having a rem 700 action 308, and knowing how much money i had to put on it to get it shooting as i liked it (trigger, new barrel since it had a long throat, etc) i knew i was going to have to put money on that one as well! And lets just say it the weight was well ughhh yeah you get the point. Also being that the vssf II is discontinued by rem that also made me click that there must be a reason. Anyhow a couple days later....

Topped off with a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14x44mm i hope it will perform great!
I started by loading some 32grain Blitzking in nosler brass with some H-4895. Probably will be testing them out tomorrow. They seem to claim to be free floating out of the box which is not the case at all with this one. If i see that the OCW test dont give me good results i will have to check this problem out. I have read online that i am not the first one to encounter this and that honestly it still shoots great. Guess we will just have to wait and see!

Very nice, I just picked up a t3 lite SS in 204 ruger. I tend to do a lot of walking and carrying for coyotes and the varmint is a little heavy. I've had 6 different 204s now I think lol and they all liked benchmark. The 35gr bergers and 39gr bks are my favourite. Enjoy the new rifle!

I just purchased a T-3 Varmint in 223rem. I bedded it into a B&C stock, and added a stainless bolt shroud, and the result is below.

A five shot group from 100m.

And it came fully floated from the factory/.

I has a VSSF II at one time but found it to be far too cumbersome to carry in the field. I found a used VLSF in .204 and have never looked back. It's too bad Remington doesn't build this one anymore... it's a near-perfect field rifle (minus the hidden mag).

That Tikka is nice. Let us know how it shoots. Hopefully it shoots as well as mine does.

I picked this one up 2 weeks ago. Tikka T3 Hunters in 204 Ruger topped with nikon prostaff bdc 3.5-14x40. Shoots amazing. Gonna try some handloads in the next couple weeks. Love my Tikkas. Only problem I had was that it wasn't ejecting the brass. Narrowed it down to a bad bunch of hornady brass. Coyotes gonna die with this this thunderstick.

My T3 is my most accurate rig. Shooting 82 gr Bergers is magic. I upgraded the bolt knob, bolt shroud and added bottom metal to accept AI mags. I felt No need to upgrade the stock or bed it as I doubt it would make any improvement in accuracy.

Cheers!!
