New Tamer, couple hiccups- ideas?

Just picked up a .410 Tamer 2 days ago and took it to the range yesterday. Neat, handy little shotgun, but had a couple of minor 'issues'.

Out of the box, the receiver was VERY stiff, and to close it on a live shell and have it lock was tough- you really had to snap it shut, and it might look like it was locked, but it wasn't. A few tries would be needed to not have it hinge open on its own.

We shot 10 slugs and a box of #6 3" shells through it. Towards the end, I noticed that it would lock tight on closing, but after firing, the thing had started to open- it would be hinged open about 1/8".

Looking on the H&R website, it seems there's only one place for factory repairs on their stuff in Canada, and it's in Quebec. I don't want to send any gun of mine there. I could see if the dealer will refund or replace it, but if anyone out there knows of a simple fix for this (I was thinking a little filing/sanding of the action to let it close a little more might be all that's needed, and I'm sure I can handle that).

Ideas, thoughts?

Take the gun down and thoroughly clean the factory greases and oil off of it. Make sure the mating surfaces of the locking block and barrel recess are completely free of oil. Open and close the gun firmly ( no slamming) about 100 times to mate the locking surfaces. Enure that a good quality grease is applied to the hinge pin and lug. That will solve 99% of the issues with the handi platform. Some use will show via wear the mating consistency of the locking block and recess RARELY will any fitting be required.
