HI Glen and bsand

Well first off my 1954 referb I turned it into a project rifle . Over the last 8 months I have been making my own muzzle breaks .

So were better than others but I did notice the some of the muzzle breaks seem to greatly improve the harmonics of the barrel and seem to turn the barrel a bit like the Browning Boss system.

The biggest problem was keeping the muzzle break from coming off after 20 to 30 rounds ........tried many many different ways to fix them in place ,, no luck .

So I started from scratch again . lessons learned back in the basement I went and now after 100 rounds ,, 40 rapid fire ,, the break hold true , solid like a rock .

the first target shows the first bullets starting from the right side and moving towards the centre , one opps , low,,, one wrong clicks on the scope lol.

I did a lot of test firing to insure it was not going to get lose or fall off or get Blown down range as had happen before , once I was sure it was not going anywhere , I sighted in the scope .. pretty happy with the results , for a home made break , recoil was reduced to less than a 223 .........Really !!!!! No muzzle flip at all , must be near 65 % reduction over all , even rapid fire the gun never moved .

This was 50 yards at the range . Russian surplus ammo .

Hey
not bad and the results are what matter.
all I have is a simple bird cage on the end, I threaded my barrel and haven't found a nice muzzle brake to install, so I have this on to protect the threads.

Hi Tazz

Very nice !!!

Mine is not threaded , I don't have the tools or experience for that , local machine shops wants about $200.00 to do the threading lol .......not .

I sent some pics to shooting buddy and he sent me this break , looks close to mine ,,,,,,,well theirs is better made by professionals and a C & C machine , not with files , grinders and a drill press lol.

my other sks is also threaded but doesn't have anything on it, need to work on the recrowning then find something to install on it.
may pickup another sks to leave stock.

hey
yes I threaded myself. bought a threading kit which makes it so much easier and clean.
the crowning though isn't as nice, did a quick job on the one and need to clean it up but it shoots ok for now
