Looking to participate in AMA's 3-gun match on the 2nd (weather permitting, the forecast seems to change every day). I've gone through Black Badge training, but haven't shot a match (IPSC or otherwise) yet, so this will be my first.

I'm interested, but found out I would be available for this on very short notice, so I dont have alot of gear ready.

What will I need to be able to participate? As a newbie, Im just going for the experience, and to get some trigger time in a structured environment; no illusions as to competing at the level of the other guys who will be there.

Here is what I have:

Glock 17 w/ Holster and Mag pouches - 4 mags.
Sufficient 124gn ammunition (handloads)

Norc M4 with 4x10rd LAR mags, conjoined by their baseplates
Should have sufficient 55gn ammo, if not will buy.

Rem 870 Express with 18" barrel, and standard length magazine.
It calls for slugs and shot - what size shot can I use?

I have a mag pouch for the AR mags that I can use as a belt pouch, otherwise, I have no webbing for anything else (ie. shells) and would just have to stuff my pockets for the 12ga.

I've got ear and eye pro, obviously - but what else will I need?

You have everything you need for the match. Just bring extra ammo as you can always bring it home if you don't need it. For your shotgun shot size I would recommend #4 as you will be shooting steel plates and poppers as well a clay pigeons. I find the #4 is good for it all. Some people use buckshot on the steel and #7 on the clay but if they are mixed together on the stage it requires too much thinking:D.

Make sure you let Jim S. know that you are attending and whatever you don't have you can always borrow there. See you there and if you need anything just ask.

You have to watch the shot size. Some matches mandate max shot (#6 is the most common) Some warn you they have buckshot stages only.. so I'd check what matches the requirements are before you go and buy cases of shot shells

sounds like you have everything you need to run the stage , plenty of first time guys run mags/shells out of pockets while they are getting used to it. you will probally be better off for NOT buy a bunch of gear the first time, since you will be able to see what other dudes run and see how that could work for you. personally, I didnt find the 100$ a pop 4x4 shotgun caddies to do much for me, others swear by them, I LOVE the coupled lar10 mags, somepeople prefer them as an individual mag.

unlesss they specify ammo, standard non steel ammo is ok. 5-7 shot seems most common ( NO STEEL AMMO)

go out there and have fun, 3 gun is Awsome, long as your safe, you will have loads of fun regardless of gear.
