Hi everyone, Finally after 3+ months waiting in transfer this showed up today. I really wanted something close to a m16 ever since a kid. Well this is it within a budget. I love it ! , I have a modern sporter that should be here soon. Plan was to swap everything over and have a non restricted one. Stupid me shouldve bought 2 one to keep like this and one to rob everything from. Looks like i should invest in some tools as i need to get ready to make to do a swap. quick suggestions what i might need? i know there is probably lots out there but sometimes its easier to just ask.

thanks!

I have the triangle guard and the triangle metal piece. looks like i need to get a barrell clamp and some tiny punches

Just basic get a hand guard tool. And ar15 armourer wrench. An Ar 15 vice block is nice too. Also a set of fine punches. The norinco is the closest gun made to a real M16a1 then any of the other current brands.

The pins in the front sight should come out easy but if not they might be so tight you have to get a gunsmith to drill them out.

I swapped out the handguard, buttstock and pistol grip on my DPMS without any tools.

Stevebc you know the butt and pistol grip are held on with screws right?

No screws on the butt, and did I really need to say "no special tools" needed?

However, I'll admit that a special tool would've been handy with replacing the handguard. That took some effort, but it wasn't a necessity.

I'm all about saving a buck, because that's a buck I can spend on something useful like parts, or ammo components.

edited to add: I may have misunderstood the OP's intent: I thought he was referring to swapping out the furniture.

For anything other than that, yes, some dedicated tools would be a good idea.

Apologies to all.

Buddy these days you have to be specific. You don’t know if it’s a kid with an air soft gun on here giving advice.
Yes the hand guard tool is a must . The AR wrench is more for just taking off the barrel.

To do an MS receiver to M16 look alike you'll need:

a set of triangular hand guards, and a hand guard cap to take them (Brownells makes a nice copy). You'll also need a carry handle rear sight to mount to the rail (MS is a flat top).

Tools: bev block, armourer's wrench, punches, small hammer, torque wrench, screwdriver, hand guard tool is nice and may save a lot of swearing/blisters.

You'll be completely stripping the upper, so the barrel has to come off (hence bev block/armourers wrench) and put back on (hence torque wrench). Front sight will have to come off to replace the hand guard cap - gas block sight pins are tapered, they'll only come out one way, (that cap is round, M16 ones are triangular - check the gas block seat and order the appropriate size) Alternatively you could just get round guards, they should fit with a little persuasion. Forward assist is held in with a pin, drive it out and it comes apart.

Take a look at a few videos on youtube re: assembling an AR 15, you'll have no issues, it isn't rocket surgery.

Not needed to change the handguards on mine... guess I'm doing it wrong. ;)

The Chinese are actually leaders in hard chroming, and the barrels are hammer forged. Not sure how any of that is "garbage", but I guess of you've never owned one and all you look at is the price????

I really wonder what this obsession is with cheap Chinese garbage.

I've seen far more NEA/BCL AR failing at the range than I've seen Norincos and all associated brand. Cheap entry level AR that will get the job done.

I bought one back then, and with 2 crates of 1120 rounds (chinese ammo as well) for just over 1k, now thats a deal !
