New to Canada

How's it going everyone. Just wanted to say Hi. I just moved to Grande Prairie Alberta from Colorado. All of my guns are still back in Colorado while I work on getting my permits up here.

I am looking to add a new high end long range riffle to my collection here in the future, but still have not found anywhere to shoot. If anyone lives in the Grande Prairie area and has recomendations on places to shoot let me know.

I would be interested to go shoot with some people as well if you dont mind an American tagging along:D

Welcome to Canada! If you love guns you found the best place to be. :)

Your biggest adjustment will be to some of our absurd gun laws and attitudes of the anti's. That said, there will be lots of people to help you out.

Good luck!

Best place to shoot... Probably back in Colorado.

Well somebody had to say it...

Welcome to Canada, sorry you had to move and now deal with our ridiculous gun laws... you'll probably end up having to leave some of your firearms in the US as some of them are most probably prohibited here and there will be NO exceptions. Take a deep breath and good luck with your licensing and registration.

Anyone interested in guns and shooting is ok by me. Welcome friend. I like long range shooting myself, but with a .22 rimfire. I like to find a large abandoned gravel pit and get myself into a bit of an elevated position, with tin cans set up at 300 or 400 yards. Great recreational fun.

Welcome

Hi and Welcome to Canada;
I can't help you with places to shoot in Alberta as I haven't been it that part of the country in a very loooong time. But it is a beautiful part of the country and the folks there were welcoming and hospitable when we lived there.

Welcome! You picked the best province for pro-gunners it seems.
Lots of great people from around there will most likely be happy to take you out.
Do you notice a lot of differences between the people in AB and back in Colorado?

Um, why do you keep copying things that other people are saying? Also, you seem like a spammer.

And to jarboarder1, welcome! What kind of guns do you own? Hopefully you can bring them all up.

Welcome to the Great White North! Hopefully you won't have too much red tape to swamp through getting your stuff up here.

Also, shameless plug for my friends up there at Rock 97.7 in Grande Prairie. :)

Sweet!

If you don't mind me asking, what are you wanting to bring up? :D

Really not too much at this time. I had a Ruger LCP and an H&K 45Compact that I sold because I knew they were going to be tough to get in. I will be bringing my favorite pistol which is a Springfield 1911 TRP.

As far as rifles and shotguns, I have a browning 25.06 that I love and a 30.06. Also a browning Pump 12ga. and a Beneli auto 12ga. I will most likely be leaving the Benelli and the 30.06 with my father back in Colorado.

I had plans to pick up an LWRC M6A2, but Im not sure whats allowed up her as far as AR's go. Also a Mcmillan Tactical 300, but before I get a rifle like that I want to make sure I can find somewhere to shoot it at the ranges it deserves. In Colorado there is open land where they hold 1000yd field matches. I was hoping to start on those. too late now i guess.

Probably not as impressive collection as you guys had hoped, but it works great for me.

I actually was looking at you guys online. Looks like a good place. Hopefully once I get my permits and guns I will be stopping by. I am engaged right now. She moved up here with me, Im sure she would enjoy something like that. I will let her know. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't foresee any issues with bringing the AR. It will be a restricted firearm, just like the handgun. The mags will have to be pinned to 5 for the AR, unless they're RRA LAR15 10 round pistol mags (I doubt they are though). Also, regarding AR-15's, getting a shorty upper that would make it an SBR in the States does not change the classification here. If you're ever wanted to get a shorty AR15 without paying the $200 tax stamp, you can get one here. :)

Hello and welcome from Nova Scotia. As someone who moved here in 2006, my suggestion is to talk with Canada Firearms Centre (1-800-731-4000) and get your ducks all lined up with them before you try to do anything with guns. For instance, you need a license here to acquire and to possess (PAL). Good luck with it.
