im thinking of getting my restricted so i can buy a hand gun. im looking for something to do in the winter as i have all winter off. is their some sort of league or something that i could join to shoot weekly? i was looking at joining the grange in gormely.

the problem is ive never even shot a handgun!

would anybody be able to take me out to the range and let me try one? im a member at oshawa skeet and gun club but im not sure if they allow handguns as ive never seen them their. if someone would be willing to help me out i would be willing to buy the ammo!

thanx

There's all kinds of indoor shooting leagues. PPC, Bullseye, IPSC, ORSA to name only a few. Lot's of fun! Get the restricted safety course book and start studying, then challenge the test.

What's your general location? Oshawa? There's a few clubs & test examiners I could suggest out that way.

That's a good intro for a newbie to shooting sports. A nice assortment of firearms to try, But Matt does hunt and owns a firearm already. That's thirty-five dollars to shoot 35 rounds, plus the range is out doors.

Make you a deal Matt. Pay me twenty-five dollars and I'll let you shoot a highly modified Ruger 22/45Mk111 & a Browning Buck Pro Trarget pistol. If you can demonstrate to me that you are a safe & preficent enough to shoot 10 shots at two targets and keep all ten shots on the paper, I'll let you shoot 50 rounds of centre fire pistol or revolver. Bring along as much .22LR ammo as you want to shoot. The $25 will pay the guest fee and box of 50 centre fire at an indoor range.

Since you already have a PAL, will just do a short intro about Range Rules & Handgun safety and handling before we start.

yeah, that's much better than an actual pistol safety instructor putting you through a two hour course, letting you handle all the guns before actually, being able to offer comments and instructions on what to do, what not to do, etc.

We get people with PALs trying to join hart house all the time, it means nothing re pistol safety and handling ability.

Go to Sharon first. Then take up HiaWG on his offer.

When you buy your first handgun buy a .22 first. Learn to shoot properly. Also it is cheap to shoot. If you buy a center fire gun and have to buy factory ammo it will cost you as much for the ammo as the price of a .22 gun (depending on how much you shoot).

One thing get your RPAL done ASAP as the CFC can take forever to process your upgrade, don't even get me started on Ontario CFO when it comes to transferring restricted firearms.

I've sent two, I'll try the forums PM and leave my home email. If that doesn't work just post your email address.

I update my CGN user CP an allowed v-card down load

Meh. Dont bother with the $25. PM me, and let me know your contact #. I usually go up to the club in Aurora at least once a week, and will be glad to take you with me.

I'm asking $5.00 for the club guest fees. If Matt can keep the 10 shots on paper for the two targets with my .22s (he can shoot as many targets as he wants), then I will let him try my .45s . He can re-imburse me($20.00) for the centre fire ammo he may use and I will bring a few boxes for him to shoot.

But I'm not putting a .45acp in the hand of a newbie unless I feel their proficient enough to handle it. My hand loads are comfortable enough for a newbie, but factory loads tend to startle people. I'm not going to charge him for the .45ACP ammo if he doesn't use it. Hey, he may shoot one clip and decide he doesn't like. If that the case, he's only out $5.00 for the guest fees if he brings his own .22 ammo.
