Hello I'm in red deer. Is hunter safety the only course I need to hunt? I got my pal and been shooting for a while. And then buy tags correct?

If you had a hunting license before somewhere else, you don't need to take the hunter training course.

You will need to get a WIN card to buy licenses.

Pretty much, you will have to get a WIN card before you can buy tags, but that can be done at the same time, same place or online. And of course, there are few tags other than whitetail deer that are non-draw now. You have just missed this years draw application time frame.

Ok so I have my win card so I'm good? Don t have to take a course?

When you bought the win card you would have been asked ia question that said roughly "have you previously held a hunting license outside of AB?" How did you answer?

Asking anonymous strangers to do your homework isn't the best way to start hunting in a new province. There are many ways to screw up.

Take half an hour and read the regs yourself. The info you're looking for is there. If you still have questions feel free to come back and ask.

DO NOT buy a resident hunting license until you have been a resident for 6 months, because you could be charged. And yes - they do check that if you get stopped by a game warden. It's easy for them to check when your AB driving license was issued.
