New to mounting scopes, help pls!

I am new to mounting scopes, and have run into an issue and not sure how to fix it, or if it needs fixing. I was mounting a Bushnell 10x40 3200 onto Leupold PRW 1" rings. When I tighten the rings, the rings do not fit evenly around the scope tube, so one side sits higher than other. I tried to capture some pic's to show what I mean;

Side where rings do not sit flush;

First question is, is this ok, or did I mess up somewhere? I do not want to tighten anymore for fear of crushing the tube. Any help would be appreciated.

DON'T overtighten the rings, have replaced many scopes for guys that figured "tighter is better". You have simply screwed one side in further than the other. This can be corrected by backing off the tight side, then tightening the loose side until the gaps are approx equal. The rings are designed to have a slight gap even when properly torqued down. If you want more info pm me, I mount scopes every day and have seen a lot of "buubas" work.

Good to know! Did not know there was supposed to be the slight gap on either side, figured it would be flush on both sides. Repositioned, and snugged it down even on both sides with same amount of gap on both sides, just hand tight. Used no loctite as the manual said with torx screws it is not required. Looks good to go now, thanks.
