Is the Anschutz 250 any good for a pellet rifle? I have a friend that is giving me a deal on one and for a +500fps gun I think it worth going for.

Any newbie advise? things I should be looking for?

thanks for your insight.

I'm going to Chrony it this weekend to see what speed it capable of.

Make sure you use several types of pellets. The velocity will vary (due to their weight) & of course, so will the accuracy depending on which pellet the rifle likes.

Have fun!

Cheers

I'm in the same situation as Redbirddog.

I'm looking for a pellet rifle with a side or under lever cocking mechanism (even a pump maybe) that does 495ft/s. I don't want a PAL gun, I want a quiet little plinker. Not a CO2 canister or anything, a manual action but not a break barrel.

Price range is low. The DAISY 953 seems to fit the bill, is it good? Any other inexpensive options?

I'm not ready to buy yet, sorry if you're trying to sell one.

Meph, you can also look at the Baikal IZH-61. D & L has them in stock.

That is one sweet looking rifle! Definitely on my watch list. Fits the bill perfectly! I'm surprised, are they really 100$? That would be how much I'd spend for an air rifle, sounds great!

Unfortunately, $100.00 in the States but almost twice the price here. I just found out that Gobles has them of $175.00. which is probably the cheapest you can find them new.

If you are in no hurry you can probably pick one up second hand on the Canadian airgun forum. http://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/
good luck
