I bought a CZ75 pre B 9mm off the EE, and it came with a bunch of reloading equipment. I figure the best way to go about this is to tell you what I have, and you can tell me what more I need :)
Hornady Custom-grade New dimension dies Series 2, 3 die set, titanium nitride, there's a couple more pieces in the box, the pics will show everything

Winchester primers - small pistol for standard pistol loads ~ 700
3lbs Titegroup 140 powder
1 12lb bag of FMJ bullets ~1000 ?
1 7lb bag of lead bullets ~ 600 ?
2 big bags of used brass
bunch of empty bullet trays

So what's next?

I have some digital calipers. Best brands/models for scales, measures, presses etc? best place to buy? Books to buy?

Speer Bullets "Reloading Manual #14", new as of April 2007. An incredible reference and a ton of information of all the questions you are asking and more. There are other manuals, and I have several recent ones, but this one really stands out.

Rick.

Nosler just released their new manual, the latest Hornady book is only a year old, there's a new Barnes just around the corner (so they've been saying for a long time now), and Speer 14 is new.

At a minimum, get a manual from the manufacturer of whatever bullets you're using (assuming they publish one), and one from your powder manufacturer.

I don't really "get" the need to buy manuals up the ying yang from powder manufacturers as they all have extensive websites with detailed instructions and load details.

Anyway - what kind of space do you live in? Do you have a workshop with room to mount a press to a bench? How much shooting do you figure to do? That will decide whether you want to go for value (Lee) or expensive but long-lasting (Dillon, RCBS, etc.). But what do I know? I crank out a couple of hundred rounds a week on a Lee handpress :)

Reloading:the repeateable hurt.

Your choice of press depends upon whether you intend to expand your reloading past one calibre, and how much you plan to reload.100s per year,a single stage press(RCBS,Lee,Lyman) would be fine;1000s per year, might want to get a progressive(Dillon,RCBS,Lee,Lyman).

I have an RCBS single stage for rifle and 44mag/spl and a Dillon for 9mm,45ACP and 38/357.

Buy the best gear you think you might need,if you can afford it.

i think i have settled on the Hornady LNL AP & accessories from Midsouth and was wondering if i have all the stuff i need to reload:
1) press
2) shell plate for .45LC
3) .45LC die set (Hornady)
4) scale (was looking at the RCBS 750, but not in stock at midsouth, alternative?)

i also want to make my own bullets so i think i need:
5) bullet mould for .45LC (single, double, more?)
6) sizing die?

mark

i already have digital calipers
