New to Reloading

May I ask what you plan to do with your 308? and is it the Winchester case.. We assume it is but we all know what assumption means...
More importantly... what type of accuracy gains are you expecting and what are you trying to shoot at or out to distance wise? Or are you just trying to save money? If that's what your up to it's a long way to get the money back.. Everyone is giving you solid advise.. and they will give you even better advise if you fill in the blanks.. don't be shy.. Cheers
Its Winchester case. I am currently shooting at 200 yards with factory ammo and pretty happy with the accuracy. I see this as a very important skill and would like to learn and get better over time. Just the idea that you can make your own ammo which gives you better accuracy and saves money fascinates me. Plus it will keep me busy, better than watching TV :)

Just my opinion, certainly not the Gospel…
Get a reloading manual and read it. Then read it again…
Go to gun shows and look for a good single stage press that takes standard dies.
Get a good balance beam style scale
A caliper or similar tool for measuring cases
Obviously some dies- used are fine
Buy a powder dispenser and trickler

You will need some method of priming cases- there’s several ways to do it
Some loading blocks..
Eventually you’ll need a case trimmer and champher tool.

I like unique case wax to lube cases, but my buddy gave me a mix of alcohol and lanolin in a spray bottle that sprays a mist (like perfume) and it’s the cats pajamas…..it doesn’t need to be wiped off like wax does.

Eventually you will want a tumbler…

Have fun, be careful. Never reload if you are tired or distracted and can’t give it your full attention

Using a Lee neck collet die goes a long way to produce quick and easy accurate ammo. put the case in the shellholder, run it up once, give the case a 90 degree spin and run it up again. it isn't unusual to see .001 runout on a loaded round. the neck collet die is one of Lee's best ideas.
