So, I'm pretty new the the whole optics thing and was wondering where I could find info on what's good, what's not; good/bad brands. What to look for etc.

What rifle are you going to put this optic on and for what purpose will you use the rifle? Roughly what sort of price range are we talking?

well, I'm looking at a Rem 700 SPS / Police. Something of that sort in 308. I have never really got into rifle shooting so I know nothing about optics. The rifle will mainly be for target shooting up to 500 yrds but I want to be able to hunt with it too. Price wise I'm not too worried wouldn't mind spending up to maybe $1000. Maybe 1,500 if it's a something strikes my fancy.
