Hey guys

So I bought my first "real" rifle as I've always loved pistlos and shotguns for target and skeet shooting.

There's so many scopes out there and I imagine that just like everything else ya get what ya pay for, and being an avid photographer that holds true with lens optics.I'm looking to spend up to around $500 but would obviously prefer spending a little if the quality is not a big jump.

I've been looking at vortex, bushnell or burris, but is there a substantial difference between lets say the Vortx "Diamond" back tier and the "Viper" tier for the price difference?is it worth it to get a 4-12x50 for $209 or a 6.5-20x44 for $479?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

oh and its going on a Remington SPS tactical

if any one has anything they are selling let m know please.

Thanks a lot

Good choice on the Vortex. Sightron is another you should check out n that range. Go look at Prophet river.

DO spend the money on the better scope. Always spend as much as you can on good glass. It pays off in the long run, as all the higher ends stuff generally comes with excellent warranty and much clearer images.

vortex scopes are hit or miss
a lot of them go for waranty service very fast. I had 2 myself
if you are a photographer and like good quality glass, I think sightron would be the way to go
if you want external turrets for fast adjustment at differents distances, the SIII serie is great

I had 2x SPS Tacticals. (One in .308 the other .223)
I found the Bushnell Elite Tactical 10x fixed power served me well for my purposes(targets @ 100yrds) Light and compact but solid and no messing with dials/power setting etc. (I pretty much never touch the power setting on my variables.) YMMV
IIRC..... I bought mine a couple years ago @ LeBaron's for ~$200 when it was on special. They show up on the EE for around the same $$ these days.

Can't go wrong with a Millet TRS-1 for your first tactical style scope. Rugged, reliable and decent optics. I've had mine for years now and the only thing I don't like is the 1/8th adjustments....but the new ones are available in 1/4 and 1 mil adjustments now and can be had for under $500.
