New to the M14 and the sport

I've had a Leatherwood / Hi-Lux Optics 2-7x32mm Long Eye Relief LER27X32 on mine for at least 1000 rounds- no issues other than shimming the UTG rail to get it lined up.
2-7 power.

That's something I'd be interested in for sure! I also got my hands on a cantilever mount which will allow me to use almost any scope. Only problem is there is slight clearance issues below the windage knob on my Nikon scope. I'll have to file the mount down a bit but might just do the trick.
 
I'll post this up real quick, but I spent some time filing down the flat portion between the two rings on my cantilever mount. Still need some fine grit cleanup but I I test fit everything and I was able to level my scope no problem. I think with some fine tuning this setup might work, unfortunately the rear BUIS had to go:
