Each of the lower mainland ranges have their pluses & minuses. I am presently a member of Abbotsford F&G. I am a past member of Langley, Mission and Semiahmoo. I will speak for Abbotsford.

Abbotsford has three outdoor ranges, 100, 60 and 20 yards (under cover) and one 25 yard indoor range. The indoor range is properly heated and ventilated. Abbotsford is black rifle, pistol and holster friendly. The ranges are not crowded but range #2 can be busy on some weekends. I spend most of my time on range #4 (pistol).

No silly range rules such as loading one round only, no holsters or no rapid fire. Rapid fire to some people is more than one round per minute :p. Having said that, range safety is paramount. Use whatever targets you like as long as you clean up after yourself. I shoot rifle, trap and pistol (IPSC) at Abbotsford.

The downside to Abbotsford for some is the limited distance on range #2 (100 yards). Mission on the other hand has a 300 yard rifle range. Other CGN members will chime in and give you some insight to the other lower mainland ranges.

thanks for the input. im going to hit a few ranges this week just for a walk around and talk to some people. im not much of a rapid fire kind of shooter. my cz is for fun but what im really interested in is learning actual marksminship, starting short and take it from there.
