So, I was looking for something different in a .300 win mag and after see sawing between a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker in .300win mag and a Tikka T3 Stainless Laminate, I came across this one. I didn't like the higher price vs. the standard Tikka T3 Lite SS considering it is basically the same stock with a fancy pattern, but considering I tend to abuse my hunting rifles (it does a lot of bouncing around in the truck - usually slamming into another rifle sitting beside it when chasing mulies through the hills) the camo pattern should cover the marks quite well. It is being shipped to my dealer, I should have it in about a week.

See page two for pics of the actual rifle.

I already have the optics(Zeiss Conquest MC 3.5-10X44 in silver w/Z-Plex reticle) - now I am looking forward to taking it out for a test drive.

I haven't seen many of these around (nobody else stupid enough to pay the extra $) and I think I just liked the "cool" factor with the camo stock. All my rifles but one have Walnut stocks, the other is a black synthetic.

So, was I crazy to spend the extra $$ to get the fancy pattern? I'm not convinced $200 more was worth it, but it sure looks pretty to me and you know what, that's all the really f**king matters. Right?

I was stroking a camo T-3 in 30-06 the other day... I think that the camo pattern should give you about 200fps extra muzzle velocity over the standard black stock.
That rifle with a Silver Zeiss Scope should be illegal.... the Mulies will just walk out and stand broadside... suicide being their only possible option.:)
I am totally serious.;)

I debated the camo stock too, but I just ordered the black one yesterday in .308, and dumped the extra $200 into another leupold. (Thanks Houligan!!)

so who makes the T3 again? Glad or Tupperware? :D

Well, I like the clip option, and Remington has NO .308 bolts with a clip. Why is that? There in every other cal.

The only problem I have with the T3 is that they keep multiplying, I'm going on 3 now :D

The Tikka magazine finalized my decision verses the Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker or other variant (I have an A-Bolt in .270 already).

I decided I would rather have the single column detachable magazine option this time rather than the floorplate magazine style (which doesn't bother me - some hate it).

I also ordered the 5 shot mag for it at the same time.:)

I often wondered how some peoples very expensive rifles (and some shotguns I've seen) get so dinged and scratched up.

The Tikka will be a great shooter for you. I have 2 T3 Laminate Stainless 270WSM, and my buddy has T3 Varmint HB Stainless 22-250, T3 Tactical in 223, and a T3 LS 300WSM. All great shooters. I will be doing a project rifle with a T3 VArmint HB this winter-having the rifle, scope/rings sent away for the winter camo dip.
Have fun this hunting season.

Now with pics

So I picked it up Saturday night at Doug Rayner's place. :)

Here's the result after I mounted the scope and bore sighted it on Sunday - I did fire off a couple of rounds to see if it was close, but I didn't have a target with me to finish the job. I have yet to take it to the range and finish sighting it in. That will be Friday's job.

Not the best pics, but it gives you the general idea.

Is that a five shot mag? nice rifle!
Nice Glass too! a Limbsaver might be in order.
Do you ever slide off your sofa?
Amphibous is going to have nightmares about that Tikka.... I hope.:p

No, that is the 3 shot. The 5 shot mag is on back-order. Hopefully be here in six weeks.:D

No, we don't slide off the sofa, they have recliners built in - keeps the feet up so you don't slide off (I love La-Z-Boy :) )

After shooting it, I would only need a limbsaver if I were going to fire off 20 shots in quick succession. Due to its light weight, 6lbs 3oz. plus just under 1lb for the scope, it kicks like a mule, but I don't think it will be as noticeable hunting. I knew what to expect before I bought it as a friend shoots the T3 Lite SS in .300 WM now and I have shot it several times.

I have a 24lb Titegroup Beast HG rest that eats most of the recoil off of the bench. (My 6'3" 200lb frame can handle it in the field - probably get easier as the years go by - I seem to be gaining weight - time for the hunting season workout to start)

I didn't buy the Zeiss from Doug Rayner, I already owned it, but he can bring them in for about 15% less than Wholesale (maybe better). That works out to a pretty good deal on the scopes from him, but it may take some time to get it ordered in. The optics are very good - puts my other Bushnells to shame.

Have you ever seen the 5-shot mag? I had one for 2 days, then sent it back. It hangs down below the trigger guard and is a PITA to carry in the field. Nice Rig:) I love these guns. here's my boys
