I went out today. It is +6C here today. I took a Ruger S/A .22LR/.22WMR bought used 6 1/2 inch bbl. lightly used by me, Ruger 22/45 Mark III got used and I have shot it a fair amount and never cleaned it, bull bbl. target model, Browning Buckmark Gold Target, GSG 1911 .22LR bought new, trigger job, used fair amount, Drulov .22LR Model 75 bought new lightly used. I shot Remington Thunderbolt .22LR, Super X jacketed, CCI segmented HP Subsonic , SK Standard Plus, SK High Velocity , RWS Championship. I shot 6 shots in the SSA and 5 shots of most of this ammo in the other guns. I have to admit to being 60 YO and don't have the best eyesight so none of the results are out of this world, most of you could do better. Open sights are not my friend LOL. I set the guns on my toolbox on a table and rested them on my gloves and had no chair to sit on so this isn't the greatest of setups. I shot a 15 yards.
I'm impressed with the Browning Buckmark, it shot all the ammo well, better than the Rugers and the GSG. I just got the Buckmark used and have no idea about it's history but it is in perfect shape. The Drulov is a target gun and single shot only so it is the best and most consistent with all the ammo, it has the best sights and the longest bbl at 10 inch. It is also the cheapest gun. A great bargain at $275 new. The GSG has caused me lots of issues, misfires etc so I cleaned it before this trip. It was better but still had issues with some of the cheap ammo FTF and stove bolts mostly one FTE. Could have been the least accurate as well but with only shooting 5 shots not the best test. The Ruger SAA isn't all that accurate, close to the GSG for last place, it has the worst sights for my taste. For the autoloaders the Buckmark is the best the GSG is the worse in this group with me shooting. I thought the 22/45 would give a better showing so I'm surprised about that.
I could list results but since my setup isn't that great and I'm not that great a shot I won't unless someone wants me to. I will say that the cheap ammo isn't as bad as I thought and every gun likes some ammo better than others but only shooting 5 rounds isn't a great test. The CCI ammo was good I think the SK ammo was better the RWS ammo didn't give me great results but I only shot it in 2 guns. The SK, RWS and CCI ammo are more money than the cheap ammo but a fair margin I think.
Anyway long way from a perfect test. I have tried to give as much info as I could think of to help people make their own conclusions.
EDIT: I'm trying to make this a good report. I can't say this gun shot the best with all the ammo( except the Drulov), I can't say this gun shot the worst will all ammo, each gun seemed to like one kind of ammo. The Drulov was a lot better than the rest but it is a single shot only. I would have bragged up the Ruger 22/45 Mark III before this test but I honestly think the Browning is a better gun but I don't know it's history it could have had a bunch of work done to it. I bought the GSG maybe 5 years ago when they were new (I think) and it was my first gun or first of 2 guns. I have long since decided the GSG isn't all that great and am actually planning to give it away to a relation. The Ruger SAA guns have bad sights for me, I have 3 of these guns and have sold a couple. I like them in the winter but I wouldn't say they are accurate guns. It could be just the sights but I'm not going to go and resight the guns, I have too many guns and don't shoot any of them that much. Hope this helps clarify things some!
