I got this email from my dad earlier today:

"I got back from Oakville on Thursday and brought a couple of "momentos" back for you. One is a bayonet with scabbard that Marty [my uncle] thought was your grandfather's, but I'm sure that I bought it at a surplus store in Toronto when I was a "kid". It was made Germany by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co in solingen Germany. From what I've found on the internet it was probably made in the late 1800's or early 1900's to fit a Mauser rifle used by the Chilean and/or Argentinian military. It has the ID number B1271 on the scabbard and blade. I've cleaned it up a bit and put some anit-corrosion spray on it. It may be worth a bit of money, but you probably have some weapons contacts who could tell you."

I'm not too sure about this, as I know my great-grandfather and his brothers were in the First World War, so its possible that it was a relic handed down to my grandfather, but knowing my dad, its entirely possible he did buy it.

I don't have it yet, so no pictures, but I know there's several selling on eBay.
