New trap shooter

Really good choice because you can use it to shoot other games too. Most shooters start with trap but may eventually want to shoot skeet or sporting clays and your gun is good for all three.

Thank you. I'm really happy with my new BFF. When I'm at home, I just stare at it.lol
My Bff came w IC, M IM, SKEET & C chokes. I have done some research. It has so many different advices on using the choke.
Which choke would you recommend for trap shooting pls? Do I need to buy the FULL choke?

I just acquired an A400 Multi-target, but I need to get a release trigger for it, so I will have to let it sit for a little while. I'm looking forward to shooting it for sporting and five stand.

Like Ashcroft said, the choke will depend on how far you ride the target out before you shoot. I shoot fairly quickly and use a modified choke for 16 yards in competition. Usually I just shoot the Improved Modified choke at practice and handicap. Try your chokes and see what breaks the target the best for you in your gun. I would start with the IM and then try the more open chokes, M and then IC ... your eyes will tell you what works best for you.

Friend of mine was telling me that he first shot "skrap" at your club a only a few weeks ago storm...he was up visiting his son and ventured out to the club with his trusty o/u...he said it was a blast !!! Hope to try it in the new year !

Thanks for everyone's advice. Many of you have mentioned about the shooting distance.
Sorry for the dumb questions, how did you determine the distances from the flying trap? When would be the best time to shoot the trap.
I sat on the bench for an hour, just to watch other ppl shot. I couldn't determine how far did they decide to shoot but I counted approx. 2 seconds after they called for the bird. It took me abt 3-4 seconds. Am I too late, that's why I lost the birds??

You can shoot the target whenever you want, as Falconflyer said but the good shooters shoot as fast as they can. Just point your gun at the upper edge of the trap house, call pull and, as soon as you get a hard focus on the target, pull the trigger. As a beginner, just concentrate on seeing the target clearly before you shoot. Don't worry about 1 second or 2 seconds. The target is travelling about 70 ft/sec and the shot is going about 1200 ft/sec. No need to rush. It just seems fast.
