Just picked up a tt-33 recently, its in fantastic condition, but the mags keep getting stuck in the pistol. It is in said condition right now, as I was unable to easily remove the mag, I thought I would post this to see if anyone had similar problems. any quick fixes? I have one matching mag and one mismatched and the mismatched gets stuck less, but still does get stuck.

EDIT: I mean an empty mag stuck in the tt33, this is part of the problem I do not want to go to range load it up and have it stuck.

Pretty hard to troubleshoot this by your description only. If I had to guess I would say it is getting hung up on the mag release.

If you can get the magazine out examine it for scratches. This should tell you where it is binding. Also, you can remove the grips and you will be able to see the inside much better to aid you in troubleshooting. If the problem is the mag release then you will need a split pin extractor to remove it for replacement/repair/adjustment.

I hope you can sort it out.

that's the mag- some do, some don't- and some only half way- the only cure for this is lots of exercise, and if you use the gun for competition( i know , joke) relegate that mag to your second or third line- i found that with my 1911 mags- my wilsons and mcormicks work right out of the box on both by 45s, but the ones i got from south america(5/15) would some bind and some not, and some wouldn't fall free of the frame- it would just sit there slightly out of the seated position, and say"so what?"- properly, it should fall free when you hit the button- and i also switched interals and springs around- put some ot the springs in backwards, etc- that worked to a lesser degree- i still have about a dozen in my second line equipment- most of them DID work after a LOT of putting it in the gun, seating the mag, and ejecting it, and repeat

Tokarevs produced in different countries can have different magazines. A first step might be to make sure the magazine you're putting in the pistol is one made for that pistol. Magazines are the weak point in any autoloader, and the sad fact is that many pistols have magazine problems Just gotta keep trying different ones till you find the ones that work. Starting to file and sand here and there is not always the answer.

mine does the same....i think...maybey ....kinda
you said "stuck", mine doesnt drop freely at times, but will draw out by hand.
i tried mags in my chineese taco..all three drop free, np
all three drag(sometimes)in my ruski tok so i am thinking the mag release needs a little love
does anyone know if they remove the same as a 1911? the mag release looks very simular but doesnt want to come out...is something diff?

Many of the recent refurbs imports have new replacement parts, such as the mag release. I've found that quite a few have not been fitted. If the mag drops free only if you press the button as far in as you can, then the surface that rubs on the mag on the way out needs to be trimmed back a hair. If the mag slides in and out easily with the mag release removed then it is definative.

Good info, mine does the same. (bought from a second rate seller for $10 less ,never again) I took it apart from the top slide etc. and gently use a screw driver to squeeze the mag together and pop it out. I will take a look at the release and see if that is the culprit!
Cheers Bob
