I'm surprised that no one here has started a thread to talk about these yet!

Looks like Ultimatum has a few new things this year:

Ultimatum DeFacto, a Tikka T3 footprint action:

Tikka T3 footprint, with 3 lug 60° bolt throw. Also takes R700 triggers. They are putting a barreled action package together with TT regular trigger, IBI barrel and action with 20 MOA scope bass for ~$1000 USD. Put that in a KRG Bravo, and you have a rifle for a pretty reasonable price!

The next one is their rimfire action, the Deuce:

will update this part when pictures become available outside Instagram. For now, here's a link to the Instagram post with pictures: https://www.instagram.com/p/B7j1mh-pvvM/

Remington M700 footprint, 3 lug 60° bolt throw, integral lug and 20 MOA scope base. Also accepts Vudoo mags, which is a big plus. I believe a barreled action with TT trigger and IBI barrel is around ~$1600 USD.

While admittedly I've never been a huge fan of Ultimatum, because I think they make some weird design compromises in their actions, I like where they are heading with these two actions. With a $1000 barreled action that includes a trigger, they are going to sell a ton of those.

Curious to hear reports on these when they get out in the wild, I'm sure there's a few here that will be very interested to get their hands on these new products.

The price on the Defacto is amazing, it just seems odd that they didn't make it a R700 footprint for compatibility reasons.

I think they are going to sell a ton at those prices, it's going to be compelling for a lot of people.

There's a decent amount of aftermarket support for the Tikka T3, so while not quite the plethora of options as a R700 footprint, there's still a lot of quality options out there.

Where I feel they missed an opportunity on the DeFacto was their decision to have a properietary thread spec, rather then use Tikka's tennon thread specs. That way they could've piggybacked off of the wide range of pre-fit shouldered barrels (or barrel nuts for those that want that) that are available.

The market is moving towards shouldered prefits, people like to be able to order barrels to their door and install at home.

To get the retail price down, they use a fat bolt design and a bushing insert that is retained by the barrel. This way the receiver has no lug raceways or lug seats to machine.

So while it won’t use tikka prefits, I would imagine their partner IBI will be selling prefits.

The defacto paired with an oryx or bravo will be a pretty good semi-custom precision rifle. It is a smooth and rigid action and the recent production IBI barrels have been shooting very well.

It does not use a trigger hanger, the crudely dremeled clearance under the safety seen in the pics was probably done for one of their deadlines.

Large bore receiver without lugways, 3 lug pinned on bolt head, and locking abutments separate from the receiver are features successfully used by the Australians in the Sportco and Nielsen target rifle actions.

Hopefully these drop into the Tikka inlet easier than the deadline into the R700. I wish they would have stuck with the savage threads like on the DL. It's so nice to be able to spin on a new tube in the barrel vice. I suppose if you were to stick to a low wear calibre like the .308 it might make sense. Other than that functionality, what else are you giving up with the DF?

Does the KRG Bravo need to be altered for the Rem 700 Safety? Looks like some grinding was done on the one in the pic, just wondering if that's required on a Tikka Bravo? Maybe a relief in the safety could be done instead.

Found this on the order page "Slight modifications required in standard Tikka T3 inlet stocks or chassis to accommodate the Remington 700 style trigger and safety. We are currently working with manufacturers for a DeFacto inlet, so drop-in stock and chassis option will be available in the near future."

That's a bummer. I don't mind the effort to modify but it would have been great to keep it drop in. Having to taking files to a new whiskey or x-ray chassis is a bit irritating for an action using a common footprint.

That being said I love my deadline.

If only one could fit a three position firing pin safety ala ASH for T3 on the new action one would not need the side safety lever and possibly no changes to a T3 stock? Hope to meet the Ultimatum guys at IWA in Germany in a few weeks.

I really can't figure out how these people at Ultimatum come up with such ideas. First you build deadline which does not fit into rem 700, then you build defacto for tikka footprint, but rem trigger and now defacto does not drop into tikka stocks.

Next time it will require a smle magazine in a mossin stock or something?

I'll admit I'm a bit of an Ultimatum critic. Some of their design decisions make me go "WTF were they thinking when they thought of this?", I don't agree with a lot of their design decisions. I guess I'm not their target audience.

The price point for the Defacto barreled action is going to make a lot of people happy though, will be a compelling option for some that want to "get in the game" on a budget.

i have two tikka actions they fit in tikka stocks

So? The point was the Ultimatum has once again built a action that won't drop in to a stock with the supposed inlet.

I don't know why they went with a 700 trigger. You can get Timney, Bix N Andy, CG, heck even Barnard makes a Tikka trigger. You can also fit TRG triggers into a Tikka IIRC. The factory triggers are pretty good, just drop in a Yodave spring and you are good to go.
