Hi everyone. I'm new to teh site so i thought i'd introduce myself. i started out hunting gophers when i was little with my dad. gophers turned into skunks, skunks to coyotes, coyotes to deer, etc. recently i'm bought myself a taurus pt24/ pro .40 s&w and have started getting into action shooting. I'm horrible at it right now but boy it sure is a hellofa lota fun!

I've been huting with my trustysavage .30.06 for years now but have recently been debating getting a browning BLR .270 (my dad hunts with a .270 and i usually hunt with him) or a ruger mini thirty. the way i see it if i want an elk or bigger i can use my savage, for deer or anything smaller that ruger sure looks like fun. anyone have any experience with either rifle they'd care to share i'd love to hear it. also i'm open to ay other suggestions you may have. i'd really like an ar15 but seeing as how i can only shoot them at the range i've decided against it. the mini thirty can be modified to look very similar but is still legal to shoot out in the back 40 and hunt big game with.

anyways i'm a good rambler i'll stop that now. So like i said i'm new here but very happy to be here. Anyone in the lethbridge area who wants a shooting buddy let me know i'm a ro at the range here and would always appreciate some company when i'm shooting.

Hello and welcome. My hunting days are long gone, but when I did, I used primarily an old Savage 99 in .250-3000. It was good for deer and anything smaller. I lived in the US Pacific Northwest at the time, and also had a Chinese SKS for coyotes, porcupines, and the like. Both excellent guns. I also had a .308 in a Sako action that I used for elk and moose (used it, but wound up mostly carrying it). I never tried cowboy shooting. Enjoy the site.

Well I think i've talked myself out of the mini 30. i think i'll go for a 10/22 instead. i'm undecided on the target or the regular model though anyone have a suggestion for me?
