They have a new Gen4 extended mag release that I want too. But I haven't been able to find anybody that carries it that will ship to Canada

x2....I can't see the need for these?

From LAV;

The primary reason behind the Vickers baseplates in the ability to strip the magazine out of the pistol easier- Glocks are sensitive to any kind of drag when dropping a mag; it frankly doesn't take much to keep a Glock mag from falling free- with the scallops front and rear this can be dealt with but newer Glocks deleted the front scallop and savvy end users use a grip plug to keep debris out of the trigger mechanism- that leaves no real purchase on the baseplate in case the mag gets stuck or in a worse case scenario you have to strip a stuck mag out one handed

The baseplate fixes that and also provides better purchase during a reload ( taking the mag out of a mag pouch during a reload) and acts as a bit of a hand stop for some shooters when the mag is in place

Admittedly the last two features were unplanned and nice side benefits

Also the bottom has 8 dimples for numbering your mags

Overall a great piece of kit that has gotten overwhelming positive response

On the last course I was on, one of the pistols experienced a particularly nasty double feed. Even with the slide locked back, it took two guys (the instructor and the student) to clear it, one guy holding the gun down range and the instructor using both hands to reef out the mag. Admittedly, the pistol was a 1911 with worn mags, but it accentuated the primary use for larger base plates; additional purchase on the mag during a malfunction or one handed manipulation.

The larger size of the Vickers plate gives more purchase on the mag to strip it and gives added area to catch on a belt or boot heel for one handed drills.

Some guys will even relief cut the bottom of their mag wells to make these manipulations easier.

The big advantage I see is when shooting in gloves for whatever reason. Sometimes you are shooting a carbine course in gloves and transition to a pistol, say.

Or, of course, people who shoot for work...there are lots of reasons you might be wearing gloves and they do make everything more awkward on a pistol.

Pictures no longer show in op post?

Anyhow I am looking for extensions, simpliy cause I use a large magwell therefore some would be nice indeed.

So I installed one on a G19 & a G34 mag, larger surface area, and I can see the advantage if you had to strip the mag out. Overall a good mod and cheap, IMO.

I like the magpul speed plates for this as you can hook them super easy on things for one handed work.

Shawn

I dont like how they stick up (increasing the profile of the mag and the loop can get caught), IMO this is a better design.

Just wonder how well it will work with a Magwell.

My glock mags were really slow to drop, so I stripped them and glued weights to the bottom of the plates. This increases the weight, but they drop much faster and more reliably now.
