New vortex viper hs mounting issues??

Just bought a vortex viper hs 4-16 x50 brand new. Mounted it on my model 70 7mm. I used brand new leupold rings on weaver bases and every thing seems to be centered. But my windage adjustment is all most dialed all the way to the scope. I am only 4 moa away from zero. It s zeroed at a100 yards. :confused:
 
Just a thought, but do you have those quick stop rings in? I can't recall the exact name of them right now, but they are a collection of U shaped gold metal bits to allow you to re-zero. It should describe their usage in the manual.

Also, make sure your rings are torqued to spec and are not too tight.

the zero stop rings are for elevation not windage. I would switch the rings around back ring to the front and front ring to the back and see it that makes any differance.
 
Well I gained another 13 moa still not centered but alot closer. I switched the ring from back to front and turned one around so they torque on opposite sides.
 
If it made that much differance switching the rings around I would try a different set of rings and see what happens.
 
I have a new set of vortex 30mm tactical rings but they won't fit my weaver cross slot rails. I was told they would but the cross slot on the rings is too wide and won't fit the grove. So I'm guessing that a guy needs to buy tactical rails?
