New Wilson Combat Double Stack 9mm

i'd rather see a 4.25" commander length.

We all would! :D but it does look like an interesting pistol and a decent evolution of the 1911 platform. I am particularly excited about the omission of the grip safety!

It would be nice to see a Canada-legal version eventually. I doubt I will ever spend what will end up being a little north of 4 grand Canadian on a single pistol, but it would still be nice to know that the option is there if I happen to win the lotto or find a bag of money.

It still has a grip safety

Oops, sorry, I'm talking about the brand new EDC X9, which does not have a grip safety. I think the one you are referring to is the older single stack version (shown in the picture above). Sorry for the confusion.

Yes that's the one - I booboed the origional and grabbed the wrong pic without vetting it after, just back into the post now. Fixed and thanks!

no problem! I have to say, I am very intrigued by this new gun. I hope tis starts a new trend and quality manufacturers like Dan Wesson or Springfield follow suite and bring similar items to market. I was going to include STI in there but their new pricing is out of control and they wouldn't be much cheaper than the Wilson anyway.

WC is looking to move into a niche, with a double stack 1911(ish) high end compact 9mm - there are certainly other premium compacts available, but not sure of anything in a double stack 1911 style off the top of my head. All this doesn't apply to us of course (and unfortunately), with our silly barrel length laws.

And speaking of our silly laws.... I would love to see WC (or anyone for that matter) come out with something to this (without grip safety) but with a single-stack or single-stack-ish mag / slimmer grip. One of the things I love best about a 9mm 1911 is that with a 10 round mag there is no waster space and no annoying pinned/blocked mags.

It would be nice to see a 1911-ish design like this one, however, with a 10 round mag that doesn't extend past the butt of the grip like 10 round single-stack 9mm 1911 mags do now as well as not having a grip safety.

I doubt there is much of a market for such a beast, but I can dream...
