I really like the new All Weather SS, with the fluted barrel and Bell & Carlson stock. Should be a great hunting rifle and not too bad of price @ $1100. I think if they can get them up here on shelves by mid summer, they will sell well. The new MOA trigger sounds like a good thing too
It really depends upon the fit and finish. In my opinion, the kind of Winchesters that were being produced before they shut down the plant were very mediocre when it comes to quality. I'd be willing to pay more provided the quality warranted it.
The factory where they are being made now definitely first rate. They are also majority made by non-union employees, meaning higher quality work. The fit and finish should be there as this is, in reality, an FN product now. I could use one of the All Weathers in .338 if they ever chamber it........
They are also talking that they will group under a MOA. They should be a decent rifle casue i think they are being made in the US again. Ill have to play with one a little to see if tis anygood or not. Also browning is bringing out a new rilfe at the same time. http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/category.asp?value=023B
I personally dont like the looks of them.
They are producing the Featherweight as well as Sporter, Super Grade and Stainless versions. All right handers as of now and fairly limited chamberings.
You were not really missing out on anything. The last year production Model 70s were built by disgruntled workers who knew they were soon to be unemployed. Quality on the last New Haven built M70s was hit or miss to say the least.
