Ok bare with me I really don't know the lee enfields all that well. 20 years ago I picked up a BSAco 1915 SHTLE III (if that makes any sense) that had been sporterized but had VERY good rifling. Since the barrel had not been cut I thought I would always like to restore it. This week at the gun show in Calgary I bought all the wood and metal that I needed from a very nice gentlemen.
So here is the problem that maybe someone can give me a quick answer to. After installing everything (it looks awesome) the bolt's bottom lug catches on the trigger sear and stops the bolt from moving forward unless I squeeze the trigger. It was never a problem with the old stock. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Incorrect bedding can creat a lot of issues but I have to say off hand I haven't seen that one. Loosen the front trigger guard screw and allow the trigger guard to swing down a touch. Try cocking it then and see if it still binds. If so, you will have to tweek the bedding a bit. Wish I could look at it.

Okay, you have the correct FERRULE in place.

Do you have the right WASHER under the Cap of the Screw?

That is important, too.

Wish the thing was here; we could suss it out in about 5 minutes flat.

Thanks for all the help. I don't remember there being a washer when I put it together. Where exactly does it go?

Trevor, where in Alberta are you located? I'm just outside Grande Prairie and have worked on Lee-Enfield bedding a bit. If you are close enough to me I would be glad to help you with it.

Thanks flying pig, but I'm in Edmonton. If I haven't got it figured out in a couple of weeks I might take you up on your offer as me and my wife might go up to Beaverlodge and visit her brother.

Now I have put the rifle back into the origonal stock and bottom lug is still getting stoped on the trigger sear (this never happened before). So it is something that I have done.??

The sear shouldn't be able to rise far enough to obstruct the bolt regardless of the bedding should it. Is the sear bent?

Well I usually like to think about these types of issues while looking at the gun, but since I'm near Ottawa...

If you remove the forend, and reinstall the trigger guard without the forend (with also the front trigger guard screw collar and the front and rear screws), and everything works as it should, then we'll know that the problem lies with the forend.

So if that's what's happening: Something is pushing the sear upward. Sometimes, I've had to file a bit of wood off from the wood "bridge" between the two sides of the forend, at the back. That would be where I look first. Also, I would see if the problem is still there when the forend is installed, but the trigger off the trigger guard.

Ok, so I think I got it. I noticed that the trigger guard was bent a little (probably happened when I pushed on it when I was installing the forestock it was very tight and I should of known better than doing that) and after straightening it the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks everyone for the help.
