This holiday season I decided to build a Remington Rolling block #2 in 22. I purchased the rifle at auction a few years ago go. It is a 32 cal rimfire but with bad bore and even worse wood. I had a piece of left over wood from a gunsmith but the grain is wrong in the wrist area. It was too pretty to throw away so I started making a stock but as predicted it broke as I was beating on it with a mallet during inletting. I Inletted a 4” long piece or 3/8” X 1” aluminum bar from the bottom side extending through the wrist. It is good and strong now. The rifle didn’t come with the steel nose cap so I made one out of a small piece of ebony. Tonight I wetted it down to raise the grain before I start the finishing process. Next is to bore the barrel and line it and build up the extractor and modify the firing pin so it reaches the 22 case. I will blue and caseharden it and put MVA sights on it. I was going to make it a 32-20 and ordered a liner but the 32 liners are out of stock so I think it will make a great 22 for 22 BPCR Silhouette shooting.

Man, you always come up with the most drop-dead gorgeous wood!
That looks to be an odd place for a break. Nice save. Looking forward to seeing the finished rifle.

Great work!

I've really got to get going on a Remington 1 1/2 that I got as a project. .32RF. Nice outside, horrible bore with two bulges. Haven't decided on caliber. A 1 1/2 is sort of a sledgehammer to drive a tack in .22LR. Barrel could be lined or rebored for a variety of options. I do have a .32-20 reamer...

Hey T

May seem like a hammer but there is just some thing about
pushing a .22lr - 40gr out a 28'' / 30''barrel , quiet too.

A No. 1 1/2 is the same size as the No. 1, except the sidewalls are thinner. Basically a full sized centerfire capable receiver. Probably similar in size to a 44 1/2. The octagon barrel is 26" long. This one is in .32RF, so a conversion to .22LR isn't out of the question.
