I recently got my rpal in the mail and need to join a club.

My boyfriend states that the club has to be a "non-profit" (i think the office told him that.) But my dad says this is not true, it just has to be an approved range.

So was the person telling him the truth and I need to join a place like the Sherwood Park Range. (if that is even a non profit, i don't know) Or were they wrong and a place like Phoenix Range will count like my dad says?

I'm asking because I am part of a family membership with Phoenix and do not want to have to pay to go to another club I will probably not go to as often. (if ever)

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. But I think your Dad is right. It only needs to be a registered club to attain a ATT. My understanding is it doesnt even need to be a range although most if not all ranges are clubs as well. To FIRE a restricted it must be at an approved range.

your looking to far into it. simply look for a local rage close to you that has restricted status ie has a handgun range. there are plenty in the gta. oshawa skeet and gun club has a great facility! iv been a member there for 3 years now and its great! 300yard rifle range and 25 yard pistol plus you can shoot black rifles aswell.

call around and ask if you get to wraped up in the politics around gun clubs it will suck the fun right out of it.

i guess your next thread should be any local ranges in my area lol.:ar15:

I believe you are correct because when i did my course in Vancouver/ Surrey at Silvcore , they maintained that there where a 'National Gun Club' and could get you an ATT so you could transport to other clubs with ranges and just pay drop in fees if you wish to shoot restricted. I used this method to acquire my first restricted (in Ontario none the less! no hold ups or long approval period actually my fastest one.)

Well, here in Alberta, I can get an att without being a member of a club. If thats what you are saying.

I need the membership so I can get my restricted firearms.

But again, thanks. :)

Silvercore was exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote that.

Vrose, I dont know if it is different in Alberta. Im in BC.

I asked the bf about it again and he said that one of the dudes at phoenix told him that.
