Years ago, my good friend (RIP) from Sturgeon Falls took me duck hunting in Cache Bay. During the peak migration, you couldn't load fast enough to keep up.

If you have a good size boat, launch in Sturgeon Falls and head to Cache Bay. There are plenty of blinds build on those little islands.

Another friend was such a good shot that he would limit out in 6 shots.
My friends were hardcore duck hunters, they would put out 100-200 decoys during the late season and pull ducks in from across the Bay.

How far are you willing to travel? I know a river type system thats very marshy and 1-2feet deep thats always full of geese, ducks, moose, and bear. Right down the road from that location (not even 3min) on the other side of the road there's another water system, this one also marshy, but deeper and loaded with pike, I always see tons of moose and bear in the area but less geese and ducks, although i've seen some, nowhere near the numbers as my other spot. Right beside that there's a small pond full of wild cranberrys, and right down the road from that there's an old field thats been almost clear logged thats always full of moose.

Edit: Also, there's tons of ducks where my mom lives near sturgeon, count 20+ on the lake while fishing everytime I go out.

If you like shooting from your boat/blind combo then try Cache bay, you can launch right in the bay itself. There are two launches near the old water tower frame. I wouldnt say you'll wear your gun out by any means but at times it can be decent shooting.

Ill travel an hour or two for a good shoot. where were you thinking?

I used to pop my boat along any weedline in the bay and shoot from it when I had a boat/blind combo but along the mouth of the Veuve River would be the most consistent area. It is about halfway to 3/4 of the way up the western side of the Bay. I also used to anchor in any long stemmed clump of bulrush (not cattails) I could find in the middle of the bay once the birds got leery of the main weedlines. Didnt take much cover for the boat. We used to throw an anchor off each end to hold it in place and throw the dekes off our downwind side. the birds weren't afraid to come to that setup even though we stood out a little. They were used to being shore blasted and I guess felt safer out in the open water. Now is the time it will start getting good, now til 3rd week October.

I hunted Lake Nosbonsing many years ago.
IIRC the area just south of Bonfield has a marsh that you can get to by boat, and was accessible by walking down off the road as well.
Disclaimer: I hunted this spot 27 years ago (my honeymoon :p), so the area may have changed a fair bit since then.
