Yes, the stock ones are usually junk. The aftermarket ones are usually higher quality and thicker. I find the derlin (plastic) like the ones that SJ Hardware sells are the best but that is just my opinion. The material reduces friction and doesn't require lubrication like the metal ones. Either is still an upgrade though.
