I recently got set up to reload 7.62X54r for my home modified Mosin target rifle. The bore is very tight and can take .308 bullets. I purchased the lee 7.62X54r dies with the factory crimp.

My question is, when I load .308 bullets into X54r cases should I be seating them with a .308 die set and factory crimp or will the 7.62X54r ones work well enough? Which should I use?

Better to use an expander the right size for a .308 bullet.
I think .306'' would do.
Or resize a case without the decaper and measure the case mouth.

Unless you bought used set your lee dies would come with instructions, and dimensions of the cartridge to which this die will size your brass. As well as some loading data. Underneath the cartridge there is a note to which bullet it is set to use. Read instructions first.
My die set sizes brass to use .308 bullets as it says in the manual, you can purchase expander to 311 if you wish from them.
RCBS set comes with both expanders 308 and 311.
Your seating die will seat them the same way either its 308 or 311 bullets.
