I tried the search but it keep bring me to stuff for sale. I am not new to guns had them as tools on the farm but I am very new to the terminology.

What is meant by blued i.e. the bolt is blued. and is this good or bad.

what is meant buy carbine ? is this a type of barrel, stock, ...

I know I will have more as time goes on.

Welcome...

Blued refers to the finnish of the guns metal parts. Blueing is a chemical process that darkens the metal.

A carbine, traditionally, is a shortened verson of a rifle usually but not limited to shorter barrel, buttstock etc.... It started as a military term.

Google is good but joining a firearms forum to learn more is better.

Hope that helps.

"Better" is not a term that can be defined. some finishes are tougher than others. Some are rougher than others. Some are prettier than others. some ar prety, slick and tough. That sounds nice. some can be easily touched up, some resist refinishing, since they penetrate the metal.

As long as there is some kind of rust retarding finish, go for what tickles your fancy, since everyone here will have an opinion - opinions being like anal orifices, most folks have one, and them as don't, well, they are full of exrement.
