SE man.
Im new to the precision game (and the forum for that matter) and just started this build.

Late last year I thought it would be a good idea to try my hand at poker at the local casino for a couple of sat. After all, looks easy on tv. Anyways long story short i walked out with $1100 promptly walked into wholsale and dropped it all on a Sako a7 in 30-06.

Well after going out and plinking around (maybe plinking is not the right word with a 06) I descided to go a different route with the gun.

It was just not fun to sit there and have it pound your shoulder all afternoon and the 06 is just not quite the flattest shooter in the world so I went to a gunsmith in the area and ordered a Lilja barrel with a 1:8" twist to be chambered in 6.5x47 (should arrive in aug/sept). Since the case head fits the bolt head it made it a nice fit and the single stack mag is nice and long to fit the higher gr. bullets if I go that route.

Has anybody else here built anything on a similar action? And are there aftermarket triggers availible for it if I ever want to swap it out?

The glass, for the time being will be a vortex pst 6-24x50 in milrad with a first focal plane reticle which is on back order for 8wks min.

Basically the only thing that I have not settled on is a stock (would really like a mcmillan but anything comparable for cheaper would be good) And I think I might have to get a canted rail for the scope.since the vortex does not have the biggest internal adjustment range. I would love to start touching out to 800+. (The K-31 swiss iron sights dont have quite that range :D actually they do but my eyes dont. Though i have rang steel at 350yds with it, havnt tried farther yet)

Please no hashing about the chambering 100% commited to the 6.5 lapua. All else is fair game.

For stocks the carl bernosky like are really good and robertson composites makes a sako inlet. nothing wrong with the 6.5x47 lapua. get yourself some 130 bergers and set shooting

Robertson went out of business unfortunately. If you are thinking McMillian do it. Manners are ok, but you don't save much and the McMillian are much nicer. The only thing that Manners has that I like it the T2. It doesn't have the butt hook so if you shoot off a bag it would ride nice. The A5 is always a safe buy, but I found I don't use the butt hook.

This is my sako 75 in a Mcmillian A5. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=761398 I'm not sure if there are any triggers available yet for the A7. I have a mk 4 4.5-14 FFP on it. If I were to do it over again I would run a mil mil setup on it. Over all I like the scope. It would be nice to have a zero stop, but it isn't completly necessary. You just have to pay attention.

The more i look at McMillan stocks the more i want one. And it doesnt help that my uncle just had a custom build with one. Arg!! Too many choices

Hmmmm could i mount a canted rail on top of my existing one? Is there even such a thing as a rail to rail mount? Lol I feel stupid already.
