Just purchased 2 handguns from dealers (first ever firearm purchase....). I have my ATT to take to the club, I do not have my Registration Cetificate. Is this typically mailed? The ATT makes reference to two Reg Certs, but I have no way to cross reference....

A little nervous about heading to the range without proper paperwork, and I could have sworn my RPAl instructer said I needed the Reg Cert for each gun.

Cheers!

They are typically mailed, I wouldn't think its a huge deal because any LEO can lookup the registration information anyways.

For long guns in the past, I just tote around the sales invoice until the registration arrives, after all, for retail purchases, this was all I had when I bought the gun. (haven't done this though for restricteds)

if you call them on the phone they will usually email or fax a copy of the reg certificates to you. Thats what I used for the range untill my actual ones showed up in the mail. Your always supposed to have the actual reg certs with your guns but alot of guys like to keep them locked tight and just keep a copy with their guns when they go.
PM me if you got any other questions bud.

Having your firearms licence and registration certificates on your person provide LEO sufficient proof that you are the holder of a licence and a registration certificate for the firearm. If you don't have your firearms licence and/or registration certificate on your person, it doesn't mean that you are not the holder of a licence and registration certificate and guilty of unauthorized possession of a firearm. It only means you cannot prove otherwise at that time. If you want to take your toys to the range, call the CFC, quote your reference number and ask for the certificate numbers/notice of transfer (seller) and have them fax it to you. Never rely on a reference number. Always insist on knowing the certificate number.

Unauthorized possession of firearm

91. (1) Subject to subsections (4) and (5), every person commits an offence who possesses a firearm without being the holder of

(a) a licence under which the person may possess it; and

(b) a registration certificate for the firearm.

Everytime I purchase a firearm from the dealer, the dealer always print out a copy of "Transfer Notification" for me, it has the "Reference No.", "New Registration Certificate No." and all the info for the gun, I have taking firearms to the range along with this piece of paper many times (until the official little cerificate arrives in the mail), never had any issues.
