Newbie First Rifle Question

My Savage Mark II I ordered arrived yesterday, and I'm thrilled to try it out this weekend . Anyways, its my first gun, and while I was working the bolt it felt kind of scratchy. Not actually catching anything, just kind of rough. I read the manual that came with it but it had nothing about oiling. So my question is, I know it should be oiled while in storage, but should the bolt be oiled while in use? I was reading it should be all wiped off... Thanks!

Every new gun I buy I tear apart and clean with solvent and then run a light coat of oil through, you never really know what kind of metal particles and stuff could be left over from the machining process or what was used for oil and what not. That way I know my guns meet my standards!

Give it a good cleaning. It should solve the issue, plus it helps you become framiliar with the firearm as well.
