Hello and welcome. I used to live in Idaho and shot coyotes a few times. I used an SKS and found it just an outstanding rifle. Very accurate, totally reliable and easy to handle. Good luck.

Problem is, in NB, you can only use .23 caliber or below in a rifle for varmint hunting (i.e. coyote, groundhogs, crows, and cormorant). I'm hoping to take one down some day with my AR180B.
Welcome to the site, .22-250, .223, .22 hornet or .22 magnum would get my vote, although I tend to use whatever firearm is close at hand. I'm not entirely sure of my interpretation, but I believe you can shoot front stuffers all year round, it would be fun to poke .50 cal holes in those mangey buggers.
.223 would do the trick,...cheaper for ammo than 22-250 I believe. Ruger Mini 14,...Ar180B,...Robinson arms XCR.....or any bolt action .223 for that matter would suffice.
Scope it .
