Newbie from Prince Albert

Ben, from reading your past posts I see that you work for Arnies and like to promote them. Can you give me clarity why your boss charges way more then any other place and when I sugjest another shop has it cheeper, then he is willing to under cut them by $5? Sounds like they will rip you off if they can but if you get wise to them they will do anything for the sale. Sure they have some nice guns, if you are the 10% of the market that buys that stuff. But I cannot see how they can run a buisness off of them.

I have been here for only a month now and from what i can tell northerners "natives" , will look for the cheapest thing they can get their hands on. Dont see to many indians with HS rifles and VX3 scopes. Or when I get a quote on a few guns and then find them on Arnies website for $50-$100 less, WTF? Did I make the mistake of looking like I HAD MONEY TO BLOW? Dont take this as a personal attack, im sure you have no control over what they do and why, its just in my 2 visits to arnies I was a little weirded out as to how they run their buisness.

I think you have them figgered right. If the folks at Arnie's think they can bend you over then they will. I have went in there for prices on a couple of occasions .... I always ended up walking out. I am not one to sit and dicker on a price. I don't think he has much clientle from the far north .... the guns of choice up there seem to be Enfields and Win 94 30/30's. I am thinking an over-priced Leupold or Swarovski from Arnie's might look out of place on one of those rifles:D:D

Worked there before, not any more, so i am neutral in this...he sells alot of guns to folks from the north and does have some nice guns, but as others have mentioned WSS is cheaper. I'm not a big fan of plastic guns so I don't bother with Frontier, although the prices look good.

I think you can spend alot of time evaluating all aspects of someones buisness but there is so much more to it. There will always be someone who is selling the gun you buy cheeper, it does not mean you got ripped off. It is impossible in todays market to expect the lowest price and the best service. If a company cannot make a good margin off a firearm then they cannot afford to keep good staff who will provide you service either. In the end you need to decide for yourself ware you will spend your money at.

We can keep our prices low because we have been able to move a very large volume locally and online which then has helped us negotiate better prices from our suppliers, or go direct with the companys instead of a middle man. Every gun shop will have its own niche it the market and if the public as a whole does not like what they do the buisness will either adapt or go under.

Which reminds me that when I stop by the shop today I will have to bring a metal detector to check for these "plastic guns" that I have just been made aware that I am selling. If by plastic guns you mean synthetic or plastic stocks, I am ever so sorry to offend you. The market dictates what I sell, and "plastic guns" are about 70% of the local market, you should know because Arnies also sells "plastic guns". I dont own any plastic guns myself, but when thats what people want should I tell then "no, buy this at twice the price because I like it".

Price is one thing, and I'm sure that's the first thing people think about when buying something. I'm more concerned about customer service. It doesn't matter if something costs a lot or a little, because if there's bad customer service that'll turn your hair grey, you've just wasted all of your money you just spent.

Which is why I like dealing with Frontier, he's got awesome customer service, as do other sponsered members at CGN that I've delt with (Arms East, P&D, Wolverine Supplies, The Shooting Edge, Freedom Ventures).

The only bad part is Marlin makes me clean up my drool from the floor before I leave. :D

Bah, plastic guns is the Fisher Price stuff you see at Malwart. :p
Synthetics and polymers have come such a long way, it's amazing the strength and durability some of this stuff offers.

As far as I know Frontier sells more than "plastic" firearms.
My SKS= wood and metal
M14= wood and metal
1911= metal
