Hello, I just joined. Great to have a site like this for us north of the border.

I have a question.
Has anyone bought a varmint upper for their AR from the U.S.? I guess I'm
looking for advice. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Check out the legalese section. You can go through the hassle of exporting it yourself or talk to Questar (see ad above). The US controls such parts when exported from the states.

But why? you can buy them in Canada for the most part.

I already have the "black rifle disease" Got my AR mid '90's. I've neglected it for a while but I'm ready for another bout of the disease!
I've spent a lot of time on the computer lately researching bringing in parts from the US. NIGHTMARE is the word I would use to describe the process.
Thank God I found this site. Now I can source parts from suppliers in Canada.

Check the EE too and dealers announcements.

Many U.S. dealers got out of exporting parts, too much trouble. You can still import some minor parts or accessories, but you have to find a U.S. dealer who has an export permit. But as the guys wrote, check first with the Canuck dealers.
