Newbie in Northern BC

Hi all,

Nice looking site. I'm new here and new to shooting - I've been asking around town until someone finally pointed me in the right direction and it looks like I'll get the chance to go out with some people who know what they're doing and try it out.

I'm a landed immigrant originally from the US. Does anyone know if that affects my ability to get a license at all?
 
Grew up in upstate NY. Spent most of my adult life in California. Moved here to Terrace about 3 years ago. I'm still trying to figure out all the differences between US and Canada's gun laws, too.

Terry M. runs POL/PAL courses regularly at our club and you can find his contact info on the web site. Go to contacts and click on "Directors". IPSC, IDPA and Trap Shooting are the most active components of the club with 3 Gun about to start later in the summer. In addition to hosting an IPSC Qualifier next week, we also will be hosting the BC IDPA Provincial Championships this summer. There is a MIlitary and Black powder shoot also scheduled. All are listed on the club's calendar located on the web site.

Do you have any more information about the youth program coming up?

I have three boys - 15, 13, and 11. I'd like to know what it covers, how much it costs, etc.
 
Oh, believe me I was getting pretty frustrated when I first started looking into learning to shoot. I was talking mostly to people on chat sites in the US and they could just run out to the range and shoot anything, it seemed. I thought I was going to have to take up hunting to do anything here.

I was glad to find out I was wrong.

Have you ever seen the Front Sight courses in Nevada? I'd like to try one of those sometime.

Also, I think you get a cool mom award - I'm only a few years older than your sons, but I know that if it was my mom who was getting me into shooting I would still be going home to mow the lawn and clean the dishes to say thank you!
