A friend of mine has been agonizing over the selection of Rests. We are looking for something to hold our rilfes so that we can sight them in accurately and test out new sub-MOA loads. He is thinking about a Sinclair Front Rest and a Protektor Rear Bag. He is now thinking that he needs a one piece monster sled. What do you guys use/recommend?

If you're thinking about a Sinclair rest, use a cordura front bag that fits the forend of the rifle (very important), and a cordura rear bag. Spray the cordura with silicone to make it real slippery. Cordura is good to use in the rain also. I've been using a BR Harris bipod lately. Just have to lean into the rifle to preload the legs. Still getting some jump, but the groups look ok.

Sinclair sells "heavy sand" fill and works best to stabilize both front and rear bags.
Bench Rest proven.Rice will shift around on you tooo much.
OK to use rice or doll fill in rear bags for Precision prone (tactical field ) applications but not so good for bench.
Your rifle needs to track smoothly and consistently from shot to shot.
Massive "lead sleds" 1 pce rests act similair to the more expensive Ransom rests where you don't even touch the gun to fire .
Unless you are planning to get into BRest the Sinclair rest is adequate as long as you have the proper shaped front bag that fits your forend properly.
A lot more flexible and adaptable for use than the lead sled. Also watch the spacing between the Ears on your rear bag. You want it to fit your style stock.Generally known as 1,2 or 3 stitch bags(distance between ears)
Hunter style rifles are generally 1 and 2 stitch.

Sorry I had to ad this....

If having rest problems first I might suggest Temperpaedic mattresses or the Sleep number bed and if that don't work a couple of good shots of the spirits...
Sorry I had to do that .....
Also Terry is right ....codura front bag and rear bag ears with silicone spray
