Hello all,

I am interested in shooting as a hobby and just stumbled across this forum and it has been quite informative so far and I'm glad to have found it.

I live in the Guelph, Ontario area and I'm curious if anyone can recommend a good place to take the restricted and non-restricted firearms courses.

I've only been to a range a few times but I was able to try a variety of long guns and hand guns and pretty well fell in love with shooting right off the bat.

One thing I noticed about how I shoot was that with a rifle or shotgun I have a left hand trigger finger, but with a hand gun I use a right hand trigger finger. Does anyone else here shoot like this? When the day comes to purchase a firearm will this make a difference when choosing a gun?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Hi. Left hand with a long gun, right with a handgun. Yep. Has to do with your master eye and it really makes no difference. You'd be a bit slower with a bolt action, but it's not a big deal. If you end up doing Bullseye target shooting(one hand) you move the back leg over to bring the sights in line with your eye.
Go here for a list of Ontario instructors. The course manuals are there in .pdf format too.

You will have to join a club for handguns.
