Hi all,

First time poster. Looking forward to getting starter in the hobby and picking up my first firearm. If anyone has some best first shotgun recommendations I'd love to here them. My brain is swimming from online information. Currently confused as to whether to go with a semi auto or pump for non serious clay shooting and bird hunting down the road. Love the idea of combo barrel sets but semis don't seem to have too many options. Any advice from well seasoned Sherpas is welcomed!

Welcome to the CGN from southern Ontario.
I go with a good quality pump either mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Newer ones will have screw in chokes so you can change out as need be. Less maintenance than a semi and reliable with usually all ammo. That's my Opinion.
Let us know what you decide to go with.

Thank you - I appreciate the advice. I will probably send up going that direction. I'll keep my eye out for good used options.

Welcome to NUTZ from SEOntario. Like ClayHuntinCanuck mentioned, a pump guns a great choice and Ill add the Browning BPS as well. If you have a local club nearby, then Id pay a visit and someone will point you down the path. Nice to try different guns to see what feels good. Cheers Chris
