They are just hard to find in Canada but they are out there. When it comes to enfields or any milsurp there are old people with hundreds of them and refuse to sell any of them because "what if I need it later?". It really grinds my gears. Even if you pay the going rate they won't sell.

You can try contacting irunguns.ca. There whole business is importing guns from the states.

those are hurtfull words :)

Oh I have a 2A.... not a 2A1 :) no its not for sale, I would buy a 2A1 if I found one at a reasonable price. If I sold my 2A my other 7.62 enfield (DCRA) would get lonely and surrounded by plain old 303 enfields. The .22 enfield trainers can hold their own and have made friends with the other .22 trainers, I do need to find a reasonable C No7, but I could assemble one with the NOS receiver and barrel I do have, just need to find a few more parts.

the dam things run in packs when you get enough :)

I had a 2A1 at one point, ended up selling it for 1000$ about 5 years ago. They are out there, but they aren't the easiest variation to find in Canada (due to the caliber they are popular). The one thing I have noticed is that the 2A1s in Canada seem to be in much better condition in general than the ones in the States, no idea why that is, just appears to be that way.

sooooo if someone wants to buy something you own, and wont sell, and he gets mad at you< does that make you the jerk?

Let us imagine that I am an old person (does 59 count), with hundreds of milsurps (I have a few but not that many). I don't refuse to sell, but I indeed may need it later.

What if I have a good 2A1 and may consider selling? What would the going rate be?

BTW I do find the earlier post somewhat troubling. I rarely advertize for sale but sometimes sell at gunshows. I have answered some WTB ads on this site and have had relatively little success (some do not reply at all even when I have exactly what they are looking for, some reply and ask for details and photos which I supply when I can motivate a teenager long enough to take them and then they do not reply, a few with manners reply with no thanks. I do not think I have made a single sale this way despite having the right firearms in good condition at the market price....)

This makes me laugh.

Just because you want something I have and are willing to pay for it doesn't obligate me to sell it. Talk about a heavy case of self entitlement.

Just for that I won't tell you about mine and WHY I WON'T SELL IT TO YOU or anyone else.

Well , This old guy will be glad to talk about my all matching 1968 2A1 , sitting in beautiful matching Luan Mahogany stocks that I wont sell.
If I did , I wouldn't have anything to shoot off the few hundred 7.62nato rounds I have.
I'm keeping it because of it's uniqueness , I shoot it , I won't be able to replace it easy , and I like Lee Enfields.
It's very much part of my collection , which wouldn't be much of a collection if I sold them .
I only have 3 Lee Enfields - No5 , No4 and the 2A1 which I can also call 2 in 1 because if I want a SMLE all I need to do is snap on a '07 bayo .
Put kidding aside tho... I got lucky and found mine hanging on a local gunshop wall.
So just keep looking and I hope you'll succeed...these are great rifles.
I've had several fellow gunnuttz ask about selling....makes me feel kinda special.

I'll give this thread some life with a picture of my own Ishapore 2A, 1965 production. It needed some work to get brought back to proper condition; new buttstock, forestock, firing pin, and firing pin spring. All serials match except the magazine. The old forestock is being kept safely stored. Fitting/staining work done by CGN's own LouThePou, with a no tap/drill mount tossed in as I can't use the SMLE's sights.

I bought an Ishapore a couple years ago. I bought it through gunbroker and had ##### Armory import it. I bought one with good metal and a baffed stock with the idea of sporterizing it. But now I like it so much I may have it refurbished. Has anyone any experience with "Lee Enfield Restoration" in Saskatchewan? Of is there anyone else who would do the work?
