Hello,

I've just bought a beautiful CSA Vz58 that came with all block polymer furniture including the AR-style collapsing stock. I've tried to figure out the best way to take it off ( I have a folding stock I want to replace it with) and it seems I need a special wrench to get it off ? Is there any better way to get it off without spending $30 on a tool I'm only going to use once ?

Cheers,

Thio

You could just give the castle nut a few taps with a screwdriver and hammer. Once loose the castle nut should just back off by hand. Then the buffer tube should come off by hand and expose the screw to take the mount off.

butter steel aka "aluminum"
you could use a strap wrench on the buffer tube itself to loosen the whole thing.

Bleeping inexcusable. The castle nut can come loose and require tightening by a tool expressly designed for that purpose. The castle nuts they manufactured are damaged by the very tool designed to interact with it.

I love my Vz.58, might be my favourite rifle, but that kind of nonsense is...well, nonsense.
