Hi there,

I over the last couple of weeks I picked up some gear and I'm preparing to reload my first rounds (38spl). I was going over my stuff and still have a question.
I got my hands on a set of RCBS carbide dies. The label on the box says Group B P/N: 18212 which here http://www.rcbs.com/default.asp?menu=1&s1=4&s2=11&s3=97 the chart indicates that it comes with a Roll Crimp (makes sense since the dies can be used for 357mag).

However, if I look at the top ring of the seating die its stamped "RCBS 38-357 Seat T" I got this nagging feeling that the T is for taper, am I right ?

Thanks in advance,
Monty

Take the seating stem out of the die. Look into the die from the base, towards a light, maybe use a magnifying glass. The taper crimp will show a gradual diminishment of size over a 1/4 inch or so. The roll crimp will likely show a shadow, at the crimp, and occur sharply.
