Thanks in advance lovely people of CGN.

I was working on putting together a camp truck, like the ultimate weekend warrior mountain beast in terms of practicality.

You know; four wheel drive, 2 way radio, gps, fog lights, tow kit, tool box in the back seperated for tarps, medical supplies, dry clothing, chordage, non perishable food. All the good stuff to drive myself into the logging roads and set up a camp/temporary shelter.

I recently had an idea that would make my dream machine more aesthetically pleasing (to me) read; not more functional.

My idea was a vertical, vehicle mounted, gun rack for my 12g and maybe one more rifle (much like the ones you see in a LEO's squadcar).
Sure, that would be fine once I am on those logging roads, and yes, I know if I were to leave the vehicle the firearm would have to be stored in a secure (and opaque?) Locked container out of sight, but what about leaving from home with the firearm trigger locked, action open, ammo stored seperately, secured in my verticle gun rack, with no stops.

Legal?

(Yes I know this is a specific question, but I couldn't find any reason it would not be under the firearms act)

Next question,
Smart?

I have heard that legal and smart do not always get along with these kinds of things.

Not smart, if you're in a hurry to get somewhere.
Only takes one left-winged, socially engineered, panic sticken, anti,
to pull up beside you, and make a call to police to concoct a story about "cowboy" on the loose.
Wrongly or rightly, it can possibly slow your trip down.;)
