hello guys, i just have a couple of questions regarding the legendary Tommy Gun. I am very new to firearm and I have got both of my non-restricted and restricted PAL. Ever since I got my SKS a couple months ago, I started to like the old school guns.

I know the Thompson submachine gun is fully-automatic. It has been an all time favorite of many guys who own them in the states. I haven't seen (or I have spent the enough time to go thorugh) any discussion in the threads. Are we allowed to have it in Canada? or.......am I able to acquire it at all given the licenses I have?

I was just reading the magazine and a company is actually making new semi-automatic version. If it is importable, it will be awesome.

lol......I just got this from wikipedia: "Thompson submachine guns (including all variants or modified versions) are classified as Prohibited Weapons in Canada. Consequently, they cannot be legally imported or owned except under very limited circumstances.[25][26]"

any other ways to acrquire other than inheritance? sorry for the stupid newbie question lol......

They are cool but extremely heavy!

Dewat or nothing unfortunately.

Watch em roar on You Tube!

Tommy gun.

My Father carried a Thompson occassonally will acting as platoon runner with the Hasty P's in Italy. Dad said was heavy, but it worked. Couple Germans would agree.

Everyone who picks one immediatly grunts and says "Geez it's heavy!" If it has a loaded 30 round mag, it is even heavier.

Mine has the Cutts compensator (1928A1) At 10 yards a five shot burst starts at the belt buckle at shot five is in the left shoulder. It climbs to the right. 100% reliable.

A slower rate of fire than say a Sten or PsH41. I think the PSH41 mught be the best compromise. Note quite as heavy. Bigger mag (75 in a smaller drum).

I can't sell you one of mine, nor can I leave it to my gun collecting son. Guess I won't go, then.

Not sure of your location but if you are near Calgary, The Shooting Edge has a converted auto (semi-auto) as a range gun that anybody can use on a day pass. They also have a sterling and an uzi.

I find the PPSH extremely heavy especially with the drum loaded. Does anyone have a weight comparison?

I'd have to weigh mine but I'm sure it is heavyer than a PPSH

I have the M1921, M1928, M1 and M1A1 TSMG's , and they are classics. You can go to the Vancouver Police Museum and see a M1921 TSMG with accessories.

And therein lies the greatest crime and tragedy of our stupid Liberal legacy. In the next 20-30 years, an entire era in history will be destroyed and lost to us forever because of some twits in Ottawa and sheeple everywhere.

I love the Thompson! One of my all time favorite SMG to shoot! If you can, go to the USA and rent one! I deeply hate all the politicians who passed our innane and dispicable firearms laws... I shall urinate on their graves with great relief and glee...

Bluepill:

A member on this board is fabricating and will be selling (hopefully soon?) a kit that will make a Ruger 10/22 into a Thompson. I'm sure there will be lots of buzz around the release of the kit, but it would allow you (read: all of us) to own a Thompson-like gun.

Live!
But can only be used in case of Zombie attack !

Sweet! That is my favourite model!:D

As a kid, I imagined being a Marine storming ashore at Guadalcanal with a Tommy Gun and a 1911-A1 on my hip.

I read an account once of what the Tommy Gun weilding Marines carried when they assaulted the Japanese positions at Guadalcanal. They started out with two 50 round drum mags, then switched to 30 round sticks. I can't remember how many of the stick mags they carried.

PPsh was used in the same way. Only one drum was usually carried, though, in the gun, and stick mags used as back up.
