Hi Guys,

I have just completed my CFSC/CFRSC course last week and mailed in the application form. But, I have a few newbie question in regards to Firearms.

First, for the renewal of the RPAL, is it only a $80 fee regardless of the number of firearms we own, or do they demand $80 in addition to more fees depending on the type/and amount of guns we own?

Second, What exactly is the Long Gun Registry? Does it mean, once our PAL expires (and if we possess restricted firearms), we are not forced to renew our licence? Will we be charged with a criminal offence if we own firearms and dont renew it in time?

Thanks and my best regards to all of you!

1.) "...$60 for non-restricted firearms only, and $80 for any combination of non-restricted, restricted, or prohibited firearms..." Number of firearms doesn't matter. You cannot get a prohibited permit.
2.) That's more than one question. snicker. The Long Gun Registry is gone as per one of Harper's promises.
"... not forced to renew our licence..." No licence makes you a criminal. However, you're supposed to be informed by mail when your PAL/RPAL is coming due(5 years from issuing) but don't rely on that. It's up to you to do it before your current one expires. Makes you a paprr criminal if you forget.
